Wim Hof, popularly known as “The Iceman” because of his ability to withstand extreme cold, shows that exposure to cold, doing meditation and adopting a specific breathing technique, has proven that together, these three methods are a formula to ensure we never get sick again.

Wim has been on a mission to spread the word about the impressive potential health benefits of the Wim Hof Method breathing techniques.

Over the years he has worked closely with scientists from around the world to prove the effectiveness of his method that really does prevent illness which means you never get sick again. Through the numerous studies that have been carried out, Wim has continuously proven that by consciously hyperventilating he has demonstrated the ability to both  increase and decreasing his heart rate, adrenalin levels and even blood alkalinity.

I myself have been taking cold showers for just over a year now. I have noticed a difference in my ability to withstand cold, which has proven a great benefit during the winter time here in the UK. Also I have not caught a cold or the flu.

I will say the breathing technique method is a little challenging to start and slightly uncomfortable, until you find your own natural rhythm and get used to the sensations that you will experience due to oxygen saturation in the body. You mind does alter and you become more focused, aware and feel a greater connection to something. Being able to hold my breath for 3 – 4 minutes has been fun to experience.


WORD OF WARNING
The breathing exercise does have a profound effect and should be practiced in the way it is explained. Always do the breathing exercise in a safe environment (e.g. sitting on a couch/floor) and unforced. Never practice the exercises before or during diving, driving, swimming, taking a bath or in any other environment/place where, should you pass out, a serious injury could occur. Wim Hof breathing may cause tingling sensations and/or lightheaded. If you’ve fainted, it means that you went to far. Take a step back next time.The cold is a powerful force. We strongly advise to gradually build up exposing yourself to the cold. Always train without force and listen to your body carefully. If it is not practiced responsible, there is a risk of hypothermia. Do not practice the method during pregnancy or when having epilepsy. Persons with cardiovascular health issues, or any other (serious) health conditions, should always consult a medical doctor before starting the Wim Hof Method.
